Last time we saw Mahesh Babu on the silver screen, he was busy sending goons in the air, and mouthing a lot of one-liners throughout the film Srimanthudu. In Srikanth Addala's Brahmotsavam, it is all mellowed down. There is heroism, but it is of a different kind. One thing the directors of Tamil and Telugu film industries excel at is the innovative methods they come up with to introduce their heroes. When Mahesh Babu shows up on the screen, rather than a heavy BGM, a pepped-up version Madhurashtakam plays, and the hero is seen wearing a white blazer. This one shot is enough to see through the character. He is handsome; he is a charmer, and most of all, he is pious. He is someone like Aman Mathur of Kal Ho Naa Ho, but here the hero is not dying, but full of life instead. Actually, everything in Brahmotsavam is full of life, but the audience in the movie hall is sombre. Much of it is due to the brittle screenplay and writing.
Brahmotsavam follows the story of a family (a big one) headed by Mahesh Babu's father Sathyaraj. The family head runs a massive paint industry along with his brother-in-law (Rao Ramesh) and his four brothers. Rao Ramesh is jealous of Sathyaraj and thinks he steals all the credit. But the only thing that makes him stick with the family is the dream of marrying his daughter (Pranitha Subhash) to Mahesh Babu. But his dream is broken when he sees Mahesh kissing Kajal Aggarwal, a family friend's daughter. He prises himself from the family, which breaks the heart of Sathya Raj; literally. The film thereafter is about Mahesh Babu's reconciliation with his father's death and bringing the family back together.
The story is so yesterday, yet the treatment is decent and pleasant. But only till the interval. The romance between Kajal Aggarwal and Mahesh, which occupies most of the first half, is mature and driven by lust. It ends quickly because Kajal is commitment-phobic; the big family is not her thing. A sexist might call her 'not family material'. But you get a lot of detailing about her character. These blocks make the first half bearable.
Post interval, blunders keep happening. Out of nowhere shows up Samantha Ruth Prabhu (the same fatal error happened in Allu Arjun's Sarrainodu too) and swoons over the saddened family. She is everything that Kajal Aggarwal is not. She loves Mahesh Babu's family tree. She becomes the medicine for the wounded hero, and they go on tracing Mahesh's extended family across the nation.
If Srikanth had chosen to stick with the genre 'family drama', the fate of Brahmotsavam would have been fine. But he chose to tread a feel-good road trip which has resulted in an absolutely chaotic screenplay. Everything looks pretentious, contrived and out of place in the second half. The other blasphemy of the director is the placement of the not-so-good songs by Mickey J Meyer.
With a brilliant and ensemble cast consisting of veteran actors like Sathyaraj, Revathi, and Jayasudha, Addala could have pulled off a decent family entertainer. But in an attempt to make Brahmotsavam something which it is not, the director has squandered its potential.
Story line off Sardaar Gabbar Singh :
Gabbar Singh(Pawan Kalyan) may be a happy go lucky cop UN agency gets transferred to a merciless city referred to as Ratanpur. Upon his arrival, he finds out that the complete city is stricken by the evil deeds of Bhairav Singh(Sharad Kelkar).
As time passes by, the patrician of Ratanpur, Arshi(kajal) falls dotty with Gabbar Singh. Twist within the tale arises once Gabbar Singh involves grasp that he's truly sent thereto city to unravel the issues of Arshi and her royal house that is beneath the threat of Bhairav Singh.
Rest of the story is on however Gabbar Singh fights with the mighty Bhairav Singh and solves issues of each Arshi and therefore the entire village.
Plus Points Of the Movie:
Probably, the one and major plus of Sardaar is power star himself. Right from the word go, it's Pawan’s histrionics that takes center stage. regardless of the fans expect from Pawan, he has given them in a very platter. Be it with punch dialogues, dances or fights, Pawan has mesmerised in his role.
Kajal appearance exit beautiful as a aristocrat. She has lost weight and appears excellent all told her royal costumes. Sharad Kelkar makes a solid Tollywood debut. he's forbidding because the individual and performs his role to the T. All his resistance scenes with Pawan Kalyan are dead well.
First half of the film is sort of sensible with some attention-grabbing fan moments. Brahmanandam is tight in his role and evokes some laughs. Interval bang and therefore the comedy performing that comes throughout the last half has been written well. Mukesh Rishi will his supporting role naturally.
Minus Points Of This Film :-
Story of the film is ages recent and has nothing a lot of fascinating to supply. the primary associate hour throughout the half goes for a toss because the proceedings deviate from the subject utterly. Also, the presence of 2 back to back songs within the half disturb the flow of the film success.
There aren't any major twists and turns because the film moves on one thread until the top. The proceedings square measure quite certain and therefore the climax is additionally committed in associate unconvincing manner. once showcasing Sharad Kelkar’s character in such a robust lightweight throughout the primary , he's utterly sidelined and becomes ineffective towards the top.
Technical Aspects Of Sardaar Gabbar Singh :-
Music by Sri Prasad is tight as most of the songs suit the mood of the film well. book by Pawan Kalyan lacks the required punch as most of the scenes within the half go perverse. Dialogues ar pretty smart and people written for Pawan elevate his attractiveness. Production values ar quite smart and special mention ought to move to the academic department for swing up the attractive Ratanpur set and creating it look quite realistic.
Coming to the director policeman, he has done simply a median job with the film. He has dragged an easy purpose to uncalled-for lengths and created the film look tedious at places. however credit ought to move to him for showcasing Pawan Kalyan in a very method that fans are going to be massively glad with.
Savitri (Nanditha Raj) is crazy concerning obtaining married right from her childhood days. With this being her soul aim, she convinces her family to search out an honest groom for her. Her family decides to induce Savitri married to Rishi (Nara Rohit), though each of them aren't tuned in to this call.

SYNOPSIS: Youngsters belonging to two rival factions in a village fall in love with each other. Will this romance add fuel to the enmity or result in peace?
REVIEW: Two warring groups in a village, romance that blossoms between the youngsters in these groups, and a happy ending! Before you say 'Yawn!', here's the news. Mapla Singam is actually not bad. The film seems to have been cut from the same cloth as films like Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. Sivakarthikeyan has made a career out of these films, and Vemal's attempts have largely gone unnoticed. Perhaps this one could do the magic.
You could call these films LCD (Least Common Denominator) films. They are projects that are kicked off with no greater ambition than to act as a mild diversion to the audience, especially the rural ones, for two hours. You get comedy, family drama, romance and even notional action scenes, but what works in these films' favour is that they don't take themselves seriously. That is why the antagonist is also never presented as a serious threat to the hero. Think
Samuthirakani in Rajini Murugan. Here, this role goes to Ramdas. He is Mahesh Babu (didn't we say the antagonists in these films are never scary?), the head of one of these groups, while the other group is headed by Sevuga Pandian (Radha Ravi). Pandian's clan has been the chairman of the village for many years. Anbu (Vemal), his brother's son, is his right hand man, and acts as a mediator in all kinds of disputes, particularly those involving lovers. Now, Sevuga Pandian's daughter, Vinothini is in love with Sathish, who belongs to the other group. And Anbu, who goes to warn the youngster, falls for his sister, Sailaja, a lawyer!
When Mapla Singam begins, with a collector (Pandiarajan) trying to make peace between the rival groups, things don't look promising. We are then introduced to Anbu and his gang of friends, which includes a foreigner (Adam Greig). He keeps commenting on the absurdity of the villagers' beliefs (Sevuga Pandian, for example, constantly keeps telling people to not educate their daughters) and his comments serve as the voice of reason. Nothing much happens in the first half, but the film manages to find a tone that is amusing to an extent; even when things seem to be getting formulaic, it doesn't bore you to death.
The resolution to the interval conflict is nicely done. We are told Vinothini and Sathish have eloped, but the second half shows what actually happened, and we smile at how the film has managed to surpass our opinion of it. Refreshingly, the film doesn't treat its female lead condescendingly as just someone who adds glam to the proceedings, like say Sakalakala Vallavan (the new one). In fact, it makes her character even more formidable than the hero. In fact, there is a sub-plot involving a local election as in that film, and Anjali is a candidate here as well. And the climax is quite low-key and we get an inexplicable satisfaction when exiting the theatre. Think we are over-selling the film? No, just bear in mind this is an LCD film... always!
'Irudhi Suttru' is about a man. It is the story of a man who exceeds past all normal expectations and makes the most out of what he is doing. What is he doing? Boxing. Why? Watch out on the silver screen. 'Irudhi Suttru' is all about Prabhu Selvaraj who trains Madhi for Boxing. The movie is all about what barricades one has to face to succeed in sports arena. The movie has all emotions and hardships faced by a boxer. The story line is common to Bollywood, but this is something new to Kollywood. No wonder Tamil audience are gonna love it. Madhavan has just given his best performance of his career here.
Madhavan as Prabhu Selvaraj (Tamil)/Adi Tomar (Hindi) is sincere in her portrayal as a retired boxer. Ritika Singh has already done some Bengali movies. She has filled shoes of a boxer as well as actress. Her cuteness is a plus point. Nassar, Radharavi, Kaali Venkat did justice to their roles. But in the end show stealer was Madhavan and Ritika Singh. The acting of the film is another shinning point; it has many great actors in it. Especially the main actor Madhavan has made a great impression in everyone's mind by his excellent pyrotechnic acting skill. He showed the pain, frustration and exhaustion so beautifully. Ritika also gives an emotional and winning performance.
TECHNICAL TEAM:
The movie is both a cinematic experience and a sports experience. The movie has given some intense passion towards the Boxing. The movie possess some realistic acting. In technical forefront, Editing by Sathish Surya deserves special mention. The editing is perfect. The cuts are so clean. There is a linear narration in the screenplay. Sathis Suriya has worked hard for making a perfect movie. Screenplay is shaky in the beginning but concludes on a high note. Post interval shows more depth and emotions. Editor has used it beautifully. Dialogues are good and the dialect was perfect. Santosh Narayanan is proving his mettle each time. The composer is going places in short span. 'Vaa Machaney' song is the pick of the album. His background score was top-notch. Sudha Kongara's direction is sincere and honest and it comes through in the narration especially in the second half. Sivakumar Vijayan's camera tone is so beautiful. The dryness is seen in each frame. At times, when good things happen the lightings are kept in bright tone. Perfect brilliance !
ANALYSIS
The movie depicts the life of an underdog who just wanted to achieve success in his life. The script is magnificent. But except the lead actors, the rest of the characters falls flat. The character of Madhavan is a very fleshed out and fully realized character. The actors themselves do a fine job, but the characters are left a little shallow and slightly two-dimensional. The characters weren't so underdeveloped that it took away from the film, it was just an unfortunate circumstance that they couldn't be as compelling as the protagonist. But overall, the movie is a great film. The script is great and it gives a lot to a story that is relatively simple

Three years back I watched my first Telugu film on big screen and the experience was so awesome, I struggled to find the words that'd do justice to the wonderment I felt.
It was an S S Rajamouli film named Eaga. And it was among my favourite films that year.
I was awe-struck by Rajamouli's ambition, audacity and unbridled imagination, his distaste for subtlety and appreciation for over-the-top. How he understands the science of extremes and transforms absurd into advantage is the main reason I was looking forward to Bahubali-The Beginning, said to be the most costly Indian film so far.
As it turns out, it is everything I expected it to be -- mega, ingenious and envelope pushing. There's never a dull moment in this 160-minutes long epic fantasy about a lost prince, rebellion, revenge, rivalry and a shocking betrayal to seize the throne.
http://www.hotstar.com/1000074338
The geography and era specified is entirely fictional, much in the tradition of Peter Jackson’sLord of the Rings, one film Bahubali clearly looks up to-- be it the maps, font, Minas Tirith-inspired architecture or conception of a brand new language ‘Kiliki’ spoken by a wild tribe of demonic barbarians along the lines of black speech used by the Uruk-hai.
Except the narrative is steeped in traditional Hindu mythos and legends. Bahubali skilfully combines crucial characters presumably inspired of Mahabharat and their distinct motivations to the Krishna-Kansa episode. It's like witnessing the vibrant illustrations of Amar Chitra Katha comics come to life on big screen while drawing on the aesthetics of Lord Of The Rings,300 and Troy for its fairly decent VFX and kinetic battle sequences.
Oh, but the wartime moves of Rajamouli, who appears in a brief cameo as a spirits seller, formulating medieval weapons (spears, flails, morningstars) and custom-made catapults -- are entirely his invention.
Be it the snow-clad mountains, palatial sets or stark battleground infested with CGI-enhanced cavalry and infantry, Bahubali is magnificent to look at (take a bow, cinematography-K K Senthil Kumar, production design-Sabu Cyril).
A good fraction of the beginning wears an ethereal, aqueous appearance. In its opening scene, a woman emerges from a cave holding a torch in one hand and a baby in another. Standing at the foot of the towering waterfalls she stops to catch her breath. There’s an arrow pinned to her back. Despite the looming danger in the dimly lit moment, the visual is much too breathtaking to not savour.
She swims past a furious torrent with one arm stretched above the water carrying the baby -- a basket would be too plain for Rajamouli -- and mysteriously points upstream before handing him over to a bunch of kind village folk. The boy isn’t Lord Krishna but Shiva, a prince (Prabhas).
Oblivious of his blue-blooded roots, he's raised by common village folk but develops into a strapping superhuman boasting of Superman's strength, Tarzan's agility and Krishna's playful temperament who's also efficient in tattoo art and crafting on-the-spot bamboo bows.
Shiva seeks to get on top of the seriously tall waterfall, a desire that is doubly fuelled after a curious wooden mask falls from above. The wide gap acting as a hurdle in his path evoked memories of an imprisoned Batman’s struggle in The Dark Knight Rises. As did the relief when he overcomes it.
Soon enough, Shiva bumps into a feisty warrior Avantika (Tamannaah), part of an underground resistance and learns about her group's mission to rescue the Queen (Anushka Shetty as Karan Arjun’s Raakhee), a chained captive of the usurper (Rana Daggubatti) who's taken her husband's (Prabhas again) crown. A dedicated warrior slave (Sathyaraj, the Hindi movie audience may recall seeing him as Deepika Padukone's father in Chennai Express) modelled on Dronacharya, the tyrant king's ill-advising and indulgent father (Nasser) and his authoritative, gutsy wife (Ramya) are the other key players in the story.
How the saga unravels and comes together is the brilliance of Rajamouli's single-mindedly entertaining spectacle. Best part, nothing in it is arbitrary.
When an actor bares his sculpted torso in his movie, it's not for show, there’s a greater purpose to it, you'll see. When he sets a chase against snowy mountains, it's not just a pretty backdrop, you'll discover. When a mammoth statue is about to be unveiled outside the palace grounds, it's not some gimmick but a catalyst leading to the story's big revelation.
Before I proceed to praise some more, I'd like to point out a few missteps. Like how Shiva’s preoccupation with Avantika results in a rushed romance dumbing down the latter's steely aggression into a damsel-in-distress stereotype.
Clumsily penned lines implying, "You’re a girl. I am a boy. I want to love you" only magnify the cringe-worthy tone of his affections. That and a needless item song in its second half are the few slipups Bahubali could do without. But I liked the rousing soundtrack by MM Keeravani, specially LOVED the Shiva stuti (prayer) Sivuni Ana.
Ideally I would have preferred to watch it in Telugu with subtitles since the dubbed dialogues aren’t too impressive. The visuals are so enrapturing, they take over the experience. After a point, I observed their lip movement in such rapt attention, don't ask me how, but I deceived myself into believing it is Telugu I hear and Hindi I comprehend.
All the actors do a competent job but Daggubati’s suave menace, Prabhas's charismatic energy, Sathyaraj's stony-faced enigma and Ramya's seasoned spunk stand out. A lot has transpired in The Beginning itself but how these characters will emerge when the story finally wraps up is thrilling to look forward to.
Almost three hours go like a breeze in the company of Bahubali’s eclectic protagonists, where every single one makes an 'entry' designed for wolf-whistles. Heck, I could say that about some of the exits too. Especially one involving a decapitated figure.
Bahubali-The Beginning isn’t quite finished; though it concludes on a delightfully stupefying note. The rest of the epic fantasy is scheduled for release sometime in 2016. Films that end on a cliffhanger note are usually frustrating. Bahubali isn't.
The first part of the epic leaves behind dollops of rip-roaring entertainment to relish till it’s back to finish what it started in perhaps even more jaw-dropping manner. Rajamouli incites such confidence.
Arundhati (Anushka) belongs to Gadwal samsthanam in 1920’s. She is known for her bravery in saving the Samstanam by killing Pasupathi (Sonu Sood) an evildoer who creates ruckus in that place. She is praised as Jejemma (named after the famous Goddess in that area). But the spirit of Pasupathi haunts that place. Another girl is born in the same lineage after 3 generations and she is named as Arundhati. The spirit of Pasupati is after Arundhati to take the revenge. The rest of the story is all about how Arundhati puts an end to the evil spirit of Pasupathi.
Artists Performance
Anushka: This is Anushka’s first performance oriented film and she is simply amazing in two roles. There are many shots in the film where the scenes from the present time will dissolve into to flashback and vice versa. These scenes are done on Anushka are crucial in the film. She has to show the variations between the old Arundhati and new Arundhati. She did exceptionally well with subtle yet impact creating performance. Shilpa and Sowmya dubbed the voices of old and new characters respectively.
Others: Sonu Sood looks deadly in the role of Aghora. His performance is excellent. A special mention should be given to P Ravi Shankar who dubbed the voice of Sonu Sood. It is a great opportunity for any dubbing artists to get a role like this. The way he pronounces ‘ninnu vadalaa … vasta .. vasta’ is extremely good. Sayaji Shinde got a beautiful role ‘Talla Sayibu’ in this film. He is completely believable in that role. Manorama is very good. Deepak is nice. Satyanarayana and others are good. All other artists are appropriately cast in their roles.
Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is good. Screenplay is very good. The beauty of this screenplay is about revealing the story and information in parts. There is always something to look forward to with anticipation in the film. It possesses one of the best screenplays in the recent times. Direction by Kodi Rama Krishna is very good. However, there are a couple of violent scenes that are disturbing to the family crowds. You can see a few Hollywood inspirations like Lord of the Rings, House of Flying Daggers (drum dance), Final Destination 1 (car - train episode). A couple of episodes (the thread of drum dance by the guru & establishing Arundhati as the warrior) should have been more effectively established.
Other departments: Visual effects and graphics done by Rahul Nambiar are extraordinary. Cinematography by Senthil Kumar is excellent. Background music and rerecording by Koti is brilliant. The songs in the film go with the flow of narration. Art direction by Ashok is first-rate. Make-up work is good. Editing is smooth. Digital Ingredient (color grading) is very good. Production values of this film are extravagant.
Analysis: First half of the film is excellent and the second half is good. The plus points of the film are performances, screenplay, technical values and grandeur. The only negative point I see in this film is violence (got an A certificate from censors), which is very much required for the film to be effective. After a long time, I watched a Telugu film that has both content and technology rightly mixed to give a vibrant output. Arundhati is a film which you can proudly show it as a Telugu film to all your non-Telugu friends. And it will live up to the adjective of ‘Magnum Opus’. Two thumbs up to Shyam Prasad Reddy for making a brilliant film. Don’t watch it on internet or pirated DVDs. Arundhati is a film that must be watched in a good theater with nice sound/projection system.
